My primary hard disk is 250GB SATA-II, I have it partitioned 50GB for OS and the rest is where I install all my games to.

The ideology is that when I have reinstalled my OS in the past, although some games do require re-installation for correct operation, at least I have all my old profiles / configs etc.

My problem is that C is now saying there is only 3.5GB free, whereas D has 76GB free. What software can I use to reallocate that space, if it is possible?

I have used disk cleanup, ccleaner to free up space.

Tempted to backup, reformat as one partition, and reinstall.

C drive folders as follows;

Intel = 700KB
NVIDIA = 120MB
Program Files = 516MB
Program Files (x86) = 3.67GB
ProgramData = 1.16GB
Python26 = 47.8MB
Users = 14.4GB
Windows = 19.4GB

Anyway of tracking down and deleting stuff I don't need?

I have used CCleaner, and disk cleaner, restore is at minimum as I have a backup set to one of my other drives once a week.

I have my pagefile on a separate disk.... I will look at disabling hibernation, although I don't use it, and will have a gander at WinDirStat!

Cheers.

EDIT: Although I don't use hibernation, never have, I have gone from 3.5 to 6.5GB free.

WinDirStat worked a treat, now have 19.3GB free...

my youngest lad uses itunes for his ipod, and it seems it has randomly converted songs to .m4a format, 8.4GB to be precise, funny thing is they are songs my son would never listen to, and doesn't have on his ipod, so I need to go into his account and change settings in itunes.

my eldest lad had save the whole 3GB DSTT folder onto his desktop for some reason, so moved that to storage drive and left him a shortcut instead.

found my profile had 1.4GB of temp files just from Nero install.

I have two folders in C:\Windows\

One is called winsxs = 6.4GB, I have read you cannot delete files as it is dll store for running multiple apps and compatibility.

the other is called installer = 4.3GB

I have read it is okay to delete the files in the installer folder, but is there a specific way to do this?

Anyway, gone from 50GB with 3.5GB (7%) free to 19.3GB (38.5%) free, and the possibility of increasing that to 23.6GB (47.2%) free.

Cheers guys.

EDIT: just having a read, and best not to uninstall the installer files, need to do it via windows to only remove the old ones that aren't needed apparently.
