I'm thinking of treating myself to some upgrades and want some opinions and advice please.
I currently have a phenom II x4 955 be, Asus M4A79XTD evo mobo,
and a samsung f3 500gb.
Id like a solid state hard drive to speed things up a bit, possibly this one?
This Week Only Offer
OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 90GB 3.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive
Read Speed: 285MB/Sec, Write Speed: 275MB/Sec, Flash: MLC, Controller: SandForce SF-1200, Buffer: 0MB
OCZ 10+ in stock £149.99
£146.86
(£124.99)
Will i be able to set the mobo to achi?? Not sure what this means, but im guessing it will be simple to switch to in the BIOS?
can i re-install the F3 after i have windows(7) installed. Im running the 32bit version at present, would i be better off with 64bit?
My plan of action is
1. power down, allow to cool. remove old hdd
2. connect and secure new ssd
3. power up and change settings in bios to achi
4. insert windows disc, install etc
5. update windows and drivers.
6. power down, insert old hdd.
7. power up and format old hdd.
job done
what have i missed?
Next up the cooler, ive been reading to many overclocking threads and want to give it a go. i have the standard cooler at the moment.
So
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 939 / AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1156 / 1366)

looks good. What do you think? Would it be a good idea to get a more informed mate round to help install the cooler and attempt first overclock?
As this will be my first time getting my hands on the internal organs of my pc, anything i may need to know?
