Hi,

I've got a laptop to repair with a faulty HDD. The Laptop is a HP G70 and the Hard drive is a Seagate Momentus GB SATA Drive

IDE I'm fine with :p but I just need to know what SATA Laptop hard drives I need to be looking at to replace it with. Looking for the Part/Serial number only finds me refurbed ones on the auction site.

Would a Seagate ST9160314AS 160GB 2.5" Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM work?

I'm 99% sure it will, but would like someone to confirm for me.

Thanks in advance.

Matt.

Pretty much any standard SATA laptop drive will work. You can get the ultra small ones but 90% of then are 2.5".

Yea 2.5" and 9.5mm.

Thanks to both who have replied, I was worried there was some variance of SATA required but you've cleared that up for me.

Ordered a 160GB drive for £41 delivered. These SATA drives seem to fail a lot in Laptops, I've had to replace a few for people now but normally source like for like ones on the auction site.

Thanks again :)
