Basically Iam looking to make an IDE (is that the big thick ribbon type?) put into an enclosure.
Later one I'll probally buy a 2nd hard-drive, obviously with newer tech to put into a second enclosure.
Later on still, replace the IDE one to match 2nd.

This is basically so I can have back up of music photos etc, and one for uni work- will be heavily computer based starting in september.

Now just wondering if any-one can recomend anything for this? And also thinking I should just to get two boxes of that hold both IDE/SATA drives so they match when sitting on my shelf.

Or would I just be as cheap to buy one all-ready in enclosures etc? Thinking I could get two 2.5inch ones so they are nice and small....obv would mean totally replacing the IDE one

so yeah, any thoughts on this subject?

If you dont already have a hdd sitting around to put in an enclosure I would recommend getting a pre built hard drive+enclosure (ive got a western digital My Book and cant fault it) , but from your post I believe you have an IDE hdd already? (they have the big long ribbon cables yeah :)). If you are after an IDE enclosure, there are a lot out there, I've got an excellent sata one but its unbranded really (it says 2kinfo on it, but ive seen the same enclosure with different brands printed on it), I did have an Akasa one previously but I wasnt impressed with the build quality, the IDE ribbon cable inside it had to be squashed up a little too much for my liking and the control board within it was a bit temperamental. You may need to just google around a bit and find a brand that does an ide and a sata version of the same physical design, I cant post a link to my one im afraid as its from a competitor.
