Hard drive failure - almost all data recovered but Windows 7 seems screwed

I'm trying to recover a windows installation, I used ddrescue from the failing (now dead) drive onto a fresh drive. Pretty much all the data seems intact but windows is dead. With XP, the recovery/reinstallation from disk fixed almost everything, is there an equivalent for Windows 7??

Before you do anything like wipe the drive to reinstall Windows, make sure that all your files work as they should. I thought I had recovered some files, but it turned out that many were corrupt.
