Hi,

Got a friends computer, when booting up, does a very small bit of the XP loading screen before coming up with "page_fault_in_non_paged_area STOP 0x00000050". Tryed the HD in another computer, does the same thing. Also tryed a seperate HD in the faulty PC and its fine, so must be hard drive!

My question to you is, how can I get the data off. If I plug it into a working PC, the second I plug it in i get the error again.

Really need to get the data off it, so hows the way to go about it? Also, is it the hard drive thats ****** or the stuff on it?

Ta, Dave

put a windows CD in, boot to it and load the recovery console. Once in the recovery console chose the HDD/windows isntallation that is on the dodgy HDD and then run CHKDSK /r

if your lucky that will fix it, but it probably wont. Hopefully it will work well enough so that if you put it in as a secondary drive in another PC it wont error long enough/bad enough for you to be able to copy most of the data from it.

Tryed that. It will just blue screen if I try to use recovery console. It will blue screen if I even try to format. Is the total HD knackered?

Is there anyway I can get the data off it when it crashes before windows even loads.

Dave
