i have a samsung 1tb sata hdd as a second hard drive for storage only. sometimes windows explorer hangs when trying to moves files although not often on this hard drive. Sometimes it also has disappeared. If i restart my pc it does not recognise any drives and does not go past the post screen as it gives a disk boot failure error. I have to power it off and start it for it then to recognise the drives and boot into windows. Its a reoccuring problem and i want to fix it.

i have all the latest drivers, mobo firmware, updates and so on.

cheers ;)

as above, i would check cables first, both power and data (ide/sata). I have similar problems with my old samsung hdd, turned out to be issue with doggy power connector.

thanks for the replies guys, i run the check disc and it was fine, i checked the connections and they seem fine so i swapped them with the system hard drive (power and sata) to see if it makes any difference.

my system drive is now slave and storage drive master does this matter the way it used to with ide??
