Hard Drive - Noise?

Hey, I built a computer about a month ago and as soon as I booted it up (First Time) I noticed....I could hear the hard drive, it's quite noisy and I assume this is quite odd for a brand new hard drive; I know older hard drives make noise but surely not new ones?

Hard Drive: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) [HD103SJ]

Does anyone else have this problem, and do I have to put up with it or is there anything I can do to either reduce the noise, or stop it completely.

RMA isn't really an option as I have my OS and all data on here, I know I should have reported this instantly but it isn't a major problem, just curious whether there is a way to resolve it!

Thanks anyway ^^

Depends on the way it's mounted in the case, with my HAF I can hear my 1.5tb HDD, but that's from the vibrations which causes the noise. There really isn't anything you could do, unless you use something to dampen the vibrations from it.

If it's a ticking noise that's more in time with the drive spinning rather than when it reads/writes, it could be on the way out. I had a drive go down only a few days ago. That had given warning sounds on and off. I've since tried connecting it as a second drive (it shows in BIOS sometimes) I was holding it in my hand as it powered up. Rather than feeling it spin up, it just went THUD and stopped:p I might get lucky in getting a few files off it one day but it's nothing important.

*Is now backing up all Uni work*

Ty for help, I don't think it's on its way out, as my old computer did this same noise...It's like a vibrating noise when it reads/writes: so I don't think it's anything bad, maybe just vibrations.

Thanks

Depends on the noise, typical hard drive spinning sound sort of a humming noise is fine louder humming if its also vibrating the case, notice that especially on externals sitting on desks, I normally put a flannel underneath to stop the vibrating on the desk.

Sounds to be worried about with hard disk is loud clicking sounds. If you hear this back up your data ASAP and look for a new drive / RMA / Refund.
