Ok so here is the thing. Ive recently built a new system from scratch to replace my aging laptop. I'm very happy with it so far (been 2 weeks) and im just missing the piece de resistance, a graphics card but the inbuilt GFX chip on the i5 is doing me fine just now, whilst BF3 gathers dust. I cant get my head around one thing tho, the loading time for maps in BF:BC2 was a good 20seconds faster on my old laptop compared to my current system.

any help in why this is so and how i can fix it ?

my system: Intel i5 2500k, Asrock Extreme4 gen3, 8gb corsair vengeance, 1tb WD cavier black 64mb cache 7200rpm, Silverstone Raven rv03 case, Antec True power 750w. (using gfx chip on i5 just now)

my laptop: Acer 5920g with Core2 duo 2.0ghz, 4gb ram, 8600m GT

iirc BC2 loading times were affected by the GPU loading shaders etc. If this is the case, then the old dedicated GPU would load quicker than the i5 chip would.

ahh that makes sense. I can actually get higher resolutions on my i5 chip than the old 8600m gt and just assumed it was superior in every way. I guess another thing to look forward to when i get that dedicated card.

thanks for the input.
