Hi

Been recently thinking about using a shuttle case for a media jukebox. Was just wondering about the size of hard drive that you can stick in one of these things? Ideally I'd want to get a 300 gig one in there. The plan is to rip the couple of hundred cds or so that I have on to the hard drive (someone else is going to do the building for me as I have NO experience of this), then use a squeezebox 3 connected to a dac to playback through the hifi.

The other question is what would be a good small compact case to get? Ideally cheaper the better, but its got to be as quiet as possible as its going in a bedroom. It would be on for a few hours in the evening and on a bit longer in the evenings.

This is the (very basic!) spec the guys given me :-

Motherboard and processor - mAtx, nothing fancy here
1 x 3.5" IDE Hard Disk
1 x 5 1/4" CD-Rom
1 x PCI network card (I might be able to get a motherboard with one, but no guarantees)
1 x Power supply (unless the case comes with one of course)

So any pointers for cases would be helpful.

cheers.

You could use a shuttle case for that.

The network is on board, as is sound, and in some cases, graphics.

They can be modded to be virtually silent and can take IDE and / or sata drives.

[Hint Mode]

in fact i have one in the members Market at the moment:D

Modded with silent fans in the PSU, and ICE (CPU Cooler) - the NB fan has been changed for a passive heatsink.

Couple this with a nice Samsung HD (Very Quiet) and CPU etc and you would have a very Quiet media serever.
