Hi, i know this isnt the hard drive section but i feel i'l get more of a response here as nobody has got back to me in hard drive section.

Basically, ive just installed my 500gb hard drive but it says its a 'dynamic' type wheras my 80gb one was 'simple' type. Which is right? Or is that okay?

Also, tonight im going to reinstall it and partion 20gb of it for windows. How do i go about doing this?

Thanks. Ben.

Have Microsoft's word on it, essentially a basic disk can be viewed by anything and remains more or less unchanged from the DOS days. Dynamic disks give more options and would allow you to add to the volume from other physical disks, they can also be managed without the need to restart Windows. They are both fine, neither is right or wrong but can do different things.
