The Ti has a higher bus and a wop load more Cuda which will be useful for video conversion/encoding, though the 970OC has more memory and leads in frame rates in Crysis3 /Battlefield 4,Bioshock.?

You can't really go wrong with either, if power, noise and slightly higher temps don't bother you get the 780ti as it beats the 970 and so it should considering the difference in launch price just a year ago and how GPU performance has stagnated.

newer titles will use over 3gig in vram.

new cod for eg uses 4gig.

some older games do. if buying a new card now min id go with is 4gig.

If I had a 780ti already and was looking to go SLI, I'd go with another 780ti. If I was buying from scratch, i'd go with a 970.

No, no they wont.

Please quote watch dog turd and shadow of mordor as the basis of your argument because that's been shot down a million times already at most common resolutions

skyrim can titanfall does call of duty advanced warfare does . you got new farcry soon that will and others will.

why do you think the newer cards have 4gb on them ? ;)

To be fair, two of those games are badly coded (lazy devs) and shouldn't use anywhere near the VRAM they're using :)

You can't go wrong with either in truth but I would go for the 970 purely for the extra 1GB of VRAM, as we are seeing games coming from the consoles with uncompressed textures and hence the higher VRAM usage. Plus the 970 runs cooler and uses less power :)

Encoding would be quicker on the 780Ti mind but I don't feel by much.

Toss a coin :D

SoM does use more than 3GB VRAM at max on 1080p...
On my 290X it pre-buffers the full 4GB and my 7970 pre-buffers the full 3GB but both play okay on Ultra @ 1200P. My guess is that the game simply buffers whatever the ram will allow, whether or not it actually needs it at the time. I bet 2GB GTX680's etc will also play smoothly at reasonable resolutions.

On max my 780 Ti ran out of VRAM and stuttered badly. Was unplayable.
Did you install the HD textures?
