Hardcore Henry
==========

Finally a FPS action movie flick. :cool:

IMDb - A first-person action film from the eyes of Henry, who's resurrected from death with no memory. He must discover his identity and save his wife from a warlord with a plan to bio-engineer soldiers.

At first was gonna write it off just on premise but that trailer is kind of cool though needs a lot better writing/story and a little more attention to the camera work (to offset some of the shaky hand cam effect) to fully use its potential.

IIRC there was a couple of vids on the internet done FPS as a spec-ops/SWAT assault thing, they were pretty good. buggered if i can recall who did them though.
i think shaky cam would be too much, but for giggles it might be cool to watch on an Occulus Rift or the like.

Yeah, that's what the trailer reminded me of too. From memory those shorts were only 10 minutes or thereabouts so the FPS style was interesting but I don't know how it would work for a full movie. Especially as how is dialogue going to work as it would ruin the illusion if 'you' talk.

I've been looking forward to this since I first heard about it quite a while ago, not long after that Bad Mofo song became a hit on youtube (great song and video btw). The trailer looks insane fun.

From what I've read, they had engineers spend a couple of months building a special rig with 2 magnetically stabilised GoPros to shoot the film which in test screenings helped avoid people getting motion sickness.

I'm not sure what about my post made you think that I thought the film was an attempt at an artistic endeavour.

My post was more a response to the ever increasing number of total wimps that suffer from motion sickness. Not everyone is so precious and of such delicate disposition as you, ie real men. I'm sure these people will enjoy the film.

Do you know what causes motion sickness? It's the disconnect between what your eyes see and what your ears tell you your balance is doing. Your body thinks you've been poisoned and are hallucinating, hence the urge to vomit up whatever you've eaten that has poisoned you. It's a mechanism from when we were hunter-gatherers that is still wired into our bodies.

It's nothing to do with being "a real man" unless you think a real man never gets motion sickness. It not unusual for people to play FPS games and have no problems, because they know where their actions are taking them in the virtual world (ie what direction they are going to look next). Yet others watching get motion sickness because they are following someone else's movements with no idea of what's coming next.

If you watch this sort of thing and don't get motion sickness, there's probably something wrong with your eyes or your balance.

wow, what an absolute stud you are.

I'd love to watch this in one of those domed cinema jobbys that were all the rage in the 80s. One of those with a modern projector system would be awesome.

That looks very cheap.

Possibly work as a 15min YouTube film, but certainly not for the big screen.
