harddrive 5400 vs 7200

It really depends on what you're doing. It's a lower-spec machine where you won't be taking much data off of the disk then it isn't worth it. If you're gaming, doing a lot of network file transfers, etc. then it might be worth it.

Moving from 5400 to 7200 makes a massive difference in laptops, but also makes a big difference in heat and battery life :)

I have a 160GB 7200rpm seagate in my M1710 and it flies along!

I'm not using it for gaming - I just got a nc6400 its a business machine that I want to use for work. I'm about to stick 2gb of RAM in it and I thought it would also be nice to have a decent HD in there as well. Unfortunately the graphics is an integrated Intel 950, which is the equivalent of a 9600 Pro, not great for games

For about £30 off fleabay I don't think I can lose TBH
