i was thinking of buying theAsus M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard [90-MIBG70-G0EAY00Z] mother board i just want to know will my nvidia geforce 8600 gt be compatible

Assuming the card is pci-e you should be fine running that card.

if your looking to buy stuff for a PC upgrade i highly recommend going the socket 1155 sandybridge route. AMD currently have nothing that can compete with intel
