Hi, I hope somebody can help
My PC (spec in my sig.) has developed a hardware fault whereby it started randomly rebooting mid-flow in windows. I could be either just browsing the web, playing games or just reading my emails. It was happening at totally random times. Now it has got worse. Sometimes it ends up getting stuck in a rebooting loop. Sometimes passing POST where I can enter the BIOS. Sometimes getting as far as loading windows normally again (but not lasting long). The PC always manages to beep once and pass POST so the PSU, CPU, Memory and Graphics card aren't dead.
Here's what I have done so far to eliminate hardware faults one-by-one.
-Checked temps in BIOS (nothing out of the ordinary)
-Cleaned dust from behind CPU fan, generally cleaned dust from case fans etc
-I have two Hard Drives (one older 7200rpm drive and one SSD with the OS on it). Disconnected the old one first, still the same problem. Disconnected the SSD and boot with the older drive, same problem.
-Disconnected, CD drive, Floppy drive.. no change
-Next I tried removing the graphics card and booting using the onboard graphics... no change
-Next I tried removing all memory sticks bar one... no change
-Cycled through the different DIMMs... no change
-Reset BIOS (when I could get in there!)... no change
-Checked the voltage of the CMOS battery (3.3v, looks good)
Can anyone suggest anything else I can do. I don't have a spare PSU or CPU to test with. :|
Cheers
