hi

I have installed a new Asrock 775dual-vsta motherboard and e6600 conroe and have used my old memory.

When I boot the pc i get power to the motherboard, the fans, cpu fan and the fans on the graphics card. But I dont get any picture to my monitor.

I have checked that the 7800gt is in place that it has two power connectors, i have set the board up on outside of the case with just the cpu, 1 stick of ram and the 7800gt and i still have the same problem.

I put my old mb ad cpu back in the case and I am still getting the same problem. No picture on the my lcd.

1.does your case have a case speaker
2.have you plugged it in, if you have:
3.is it making any noises, if so consult your mobo manual
4.have you got the right type of RAM, most DDR2 mobos are not backwards compatible with DDR1 type RAM.

if all that doesn't help, and you say you tested the graphics then there is nothing more i can suggest, hope it works :(

does your graphics have multiple sockets to connect to screens, if so have you tried them all

My case does not have a speaker, my ram is compatable the mb is duel ddr1&2. Tomorrow I'll be getting a cheap pci-e card for £19.99 to see if that works if it does then I have a problem with my 7800gt.

I have solved the above problem but now my pc is resetting when windows is starting to load up. When the xp splash screen appears the pc resets. This happens time after time.

So far I have swapped over memory sticks and have also tried memory from a spare pc and i get the same problems.

is your CPU heatsink/fan properly seated? perhaps the CPU is overheating by the splash screen, causing your computer to shut down?

apart from that, try a re install. thats my 2p (top option is a long shot)

p.s. what was the original problem? :p

dodgy stick of ram, I had 2x1gb matched sticks of mem. somehow 1 was damaged in someway and the pc would not boot.

I have tried your suggestions and I am still getting the same problem. I have checked the heat of the cpu mb and its 34 and 28.

i'm all out then, pity your case didn't have a case speaker or it would have told you it was a RAM problem as soon as you turned it on

Could tho mobo be grounding on the case or touching any of the risers anywhere? Have you updated the bios?
