In need of a CPU, Graphics Card, Motherboard, RAM, PSU and keyboard. My aim is to play and record games with my 1440P resolution monitor.
In order to do this I must have the hardware to match my expectations, got a budget of £1000 - £1700. SSD, HDD, headset, mouse etc has already been taken care of.

Been checking the Intel Overclocked Gaming Bundles and the I7 4790K has definitely caught my interest. Motherboard is the tricky one from the list as the ones that have been recommended do not appear on the overclock bundles. Also is it too early to consider DDR4 as a option?

With the graphics card what would be the best option or combination at 1440P?

CPU - I7 4790K or DDR4 options
RAM - 16/32GB
Graphics Card - 980 maybe?
PSU - Superflower 850 -1000W ?
Motherboard - A good one with SLI features
Keyboard type - Chiclet if there are any decent ones about

Please throw some recommendations my way, hopefully can last a few years. Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

With the 980 cards. Are there any NVIDIA cards rumoured to be released that are better equipped for the higher resolutions?

Do you know what case it is? can you post an image up?

Reason being is you need to check it can fit coolers and long gfx cards into it.

But with such a large budget you can easily afford a new one.

Coolermaster HAF 922 is the case I have.

Would one 980 be enough at 1440P? Seriously tempted at biting on the DDR4, it just might be a bit too soon switching to it.

Thanks for the quick links by the way.

Even a single GTX970/R9 290/290X is enough for 1440P gaming.

There is nothing new from Nvidia on the horizon (apart from a new Titan card) but there is new AMD 300 series due in say a month.

The Z97 black edition board gives you this option - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18631511

--------------------------

The HAF 922 supports coolers upto 160mm in height, the Bequiet slim is 161mm.

This will fit if you go X99,

32GB on just four sticks, the board has only 4 dimm slots.

P.S you do have a suitable OS for 16GB of RAM or greater?

I think I may stick with the DDR 3 options for now. What do you think?

Considering getting the 980 in SLI. Would the SLI option last a good number of years at the higher resolutions of gaming with high/ultra settings? No plans to go to 4K.

Currently I'm still on Windows 7. That may change once Windows 10 is fully operational with driver support and fixes.

I'm happy with the PSU option. May push that to 1000W if a possible SLI support would need it. The DDR 3 vs DDR4 is my only mulling point.

Should I still get a bigger case to go alongside all of this?

Also, would it be best staying with the stock options rather than opting for a pre overclocked bundle by Overclockers? I know very little about overclocking so you must bare that in mind.

For gaming i would stick with a z97/Devils Canyon setup, the ddr4 and extra cores offered by Hasswell-E isn't worth it imo.

If your going to get a beefy psu you may also want to consider getting two of these running in xfire. I would have recommended the gtx970 in sli as well if it weren't for misleading specs on the vram which could effect you at that res.

I think I have settled on the idea of having the GTX 980 with the keyboard, possibly getting a second at a later date.

With the PSU I'm sort of settled on the Evga SuperNova G2 you posted but are the Superflower ones any better? I would still need to know if a 850W PSU is enough.

So that leaves the CPU, RAM and Motherboard. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-007-OG&groupid=2833&catid=2512&subcat=2513 I can't take my eyes off this. Is it worth the extra money? Or should I take the Devils Canyon option. I would be useless at overclocking. That is the only reason that option seems appealing.

Price on the case seems reasonable. Would it be able to fit everything I may need into it? Including the option of SLI 980 etc.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a novice when it comes to computer stuff.

The EVGA is made by Superflower, it also has a 10yr warranty vs 5 of Superflower.

The Phanteks case? yes it fits everything into it.

As for the SOC Force, what a beast of a board, the CPU that comes as that bundle is Devils Canyon.

So everything in your first post that included shopping baskets at DDR3 is amongst the best I can find even without a budget? Nice find man. Obviously taking DDR4 out of the equation here.

850w is more than enough with the SLI 980? and that RAM is more than enough?

I think I'll order it all later today, including that case.

850W is plenty for SLi 80s.

But remember I said later on that your case takes 160mm coolers and that bequiet is 161mm tall, unless of course you buy a new case.

If you get a new case then maybe you can fit this into it -

Yeah, I'll be ordering a case too. Thanks a lot. It isn't half as expensive as I expected a decent case to be. Are there any other decent cases at that price point that match the size etc? Talking about appearance now :).

Other than that I owe you a great big thank you.

Is this for the right thread :o? Most of that doesn't match the above.

In the end I ordered the Overclocked version @ 4.5GHz. Useless with overclocks and the temptation was just too inviting.

In a last minute move I paid the extra £20 for the 1000W PSU, extra legroom. Same model.

Also ordered the NZXT case/tower.

980 done and dusted. SLI option upgrade welcome when the price drops a little.

Please tell me you get a small cut of this, you deserve it, I appreciate all of the help you have given. Pretty much bought every part you added in a single shopping basket.
