Need help bad....... :( just brought a brand spanking new gainsward 8800gtx so i thought i'd give my pc a spring clean before installing,BIG mistake
The problem is that after installing every thing my pc will not boot everything comes on fans drives etc but no satisfying beep to say all is ok...
So i stripped it down to bare bones cpu/heatsink turned the power on and i get one long two short (ami bios on asus pb5 delux board) beeps,as soon as i install any other piece of hard ware nothing no beeps but everything spinning including graphics cooler.I have taken everything up my mates and tested MEMORY ok GRAPHICS ok POWER SUPPLY ok DRIVES all ok that then leaves the mobo or my duo e6600 cpu.
The only thing i mite have done is over tightened the big typhoon heatsink because the sponge backing was squashed quite bad besides that i'm in a delemer is it the CPU or MOBO ,any help would be appreciated and i have cleaned the cpu and tried with the stock cooler but still have this problem

id try taking it all to bits and trying again c hecking u aint missed any cables out ect.. also use yer old gpu.. maybe u need to change the bios for the new one (stranger things have happened

A motherboard is far more likely to fail than a CPU.

Have you tried building it outside the case?
