Hardware VPN to remote site advice

I hope this is the correct forum. Sorry if its not.

I have 2 sites connected via 2x draytek vigor 2800 routers with a hardware vpn.

site 2 is dialing the main site 1.

Site 1 holds all company data.
site 2 wants to access the company data in site 1. but WITHOUT any speed issues.

we have an idea that is floating about..... (drum role)

- Store duplicate data at both sites and allow the users to edit and change data at their will indepentely from each other- customer wants to avoid the speed issues with a vpn. I have gone down the route of a leased line but this is far too expensive.

we want site 1 and 2 to sycnronise data every night over the vpn connection.... What are my options and is there any software that will accomedate me.

Now I know the draw backs to this, I personaly dont think its a great idea. :confused:

Have a look at DFS namespaces/replication (Microsoft).

The real question is whats your budget?

Have you considered WAN optimisation technologies such as Cisco WAAS?

DFS would do a job and you can limit the ammount of data transfered between sites at different times of the day.

Terminal Services, then no data leaves Site 1 so no issue with inconsistency/out of date data which is always a problem with shifting data around by none real-time replication, and to a degree even with it, unless you have locking replication.
