I am interested in buying some of these but was after a few opinions on them. I want to play them through my laptop. How loud do they go? I like to listen to my music loud. They say they are 40 watts....surely that is not very loud? Also what is the sound quality like, is it good relative to the price of the speakers.

I have the soundsticks II and they are great compared to my old creative cheapies

Loud, clear and stylish.

buy them now! I fancied the look of them to start with but then read that the wattage was low but then heard my mates and they are awesome! I use mine with my MacBook Pro and they sound totally amazing. Just as well I live in the country otherwise my neighbours would be complaining all the time! Really would recommend. I got them for £100. Well worth the money and sound quality is excellent.

I doubt those SS have the frequency response of a mid-sized mini monitor.

Looks like form over function, the clear lit enclosure and subwoofer confirms it.

Spend £100 on stereo speakers instead, not a "lifestyle" 2.1 system.

I would agree.

I am using some Mission bookshef speakers (left over from a old surround-sound system) plus a Sonic T-Amp. Also, a separate DAC.

yeah they do look different but they are anything but pants as speakers! Amazing sound quality from them. I had a creative 5.1 set before these and these outperform them by miles. And that was using a creative x-fi card also!
