Harmony Ultimate Remote

So how advanced are the harmony remotes now, please educate me.

These are a couple of screen shots of the app you can get to remotely control a humax box from a tablet via wifi (just touch tablets screen to control)
can you do this with harmony ?

[ I suppose - do harmony sell a networked ir emitter with app ... if not they are soon going out of business
maybe someone also built one with raspberry pi
OK a harmony is more robust/child-proof ]

I think you are missing the point of having the remote, it controls all your devices at same time and takes away the need for the other remotes.

Example, I press the TIVO option on the remote touch screen, it turns on the TV, the virgin box, the sound bar and sets the TV to the right HDMI input. All done with 1 button press from 1 remote, not the 3 I had to use previously.

I then press the Media Server option on the remote touch screen, it turns the TIVO box off, changes the TV channel and turns the HTPC on from standby.

The off button just turns everything off that was on, again all 1 remote but you get the idea by now no doubt :)

The remote has an online database of no end of devices you can program it for and set it up exactly how you want. It is a great piece of kit to be fair.

OK thanks,
you are right I had not appreciated (I summarise as) 'multiple device macros' was the purpose of harmony remotes
..... and remote access to the devices' epgs for setting recordings or searching media something else.
I would prioritize both of these functions closely.

Had mine delivered and got it set up to control the following

Samsung Smart TV
Sky HD
Sony Amp
Roku box (this was always a nuisance as the IR sensor is very directional and always needed a perfectly aimed controller to operate, but the Harmony allows control via WiFi so no line of site required).
PS3
PS4
Wii U
XBox One

The IR Blaster is fantastic, I haven't been able to plug it in behind the TV unit yet so it is sitting in the corner of the room and is still able to control all IR devices from 3 meters away at a 15 degree angle from the equipment!

Eventual plan is for a new TV unit, so the two addon IR extenders will be able to control stuff in the two closed units at the end and the blaster will control the main (Sky and Amp) in the middle section.

Very happy as wanted one for ages, but couldn't justify the over £100 cost it always seemed to be before.
