One of the blades has snapped off my GPU fan and i was wondering if superglue would hold up. It's my fault, my finger got caught whilst messing. Card is a brand new Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCUII :o

Picture please?

But most likely no. Fan still works with less baldes. Just doesnt shift as much air... Providing it is a clean break.

Yea it can be done. Just clean the place where it broke off and then use Loctite Super Attack (super glue), then it will last for years and years.

I did it on my parents Gigabyte HD4830 ! It's been running for 4years now and the PC is on almost 8hours a day... the blade still holds.

Try to be precise if you decide to glue it back on, you dont want to throw the fan out of balance.

Exact same thing happened to me a few days after I got my 2nd 780.

Used Loctite superglue, but as others have said make sure it's in exactly the right place. I got lucky. Apply lots of pressure in the right place for as long as you can then keep it in the best position to hold it in place. Mine's held for the last two months so far. :D

Ahhh, good stuff. Thanks boys. Just found a new tub of bostik super glue. It's holding up so far. Gonna have to get a new fan now though to put my mind at rest. I'm scared to go by it now incase it flies off and takes my eye out

As long as you glue it with decent stuff and not pritt stick, it'll work fine afterwards.

Needs to be in the exact same place though or you'll get judders as it's no longer balanced. Do not run the fan without the blade, that'll make it vibrate like no tomorrow.

It can be done, i did that just a couple of months ago on one of my 180 mm Silverstone RV02 case fans.

I didn´t use glue, i used one special glue/compound you use to stick things to the walls without using screws, for outdoors. I was lucky because the blade cut was clean so after gluing it back, it worked just like before, no vibrations.

I already did and the best way is to use super glue then use a piece of Microporous Surgical Tape with a little bit more of super glue over the tape.

Also you can use cotton but it is harder to work with and the result is not as good.

I already broke so many fans like this, I don't know why I insist to put my hand near the fans when my computer is on :D

For this situation I would highly recommend using 3m Scotch weld, it will stick anything to anything. In some cases its even stronger then epoxy!
