Has anybody got their Android to show on their PC network via WiFi?

I thought this would be quite simple since all my other devices show in my PC Network!

I want to be able to switch my phone onto WiFi, perhaps turn something else on and then using my PC File Manager be able to transfer files via wireless.
Obviously I can put a USB lead in and use the Android as an external drive but I want to bypass this for smaller files.

Any ideas?

Sounds like Airdroid is right up your street. Run the app, phone becomes visible on the network and also via web browser, you can do a shed load then. File manager is one of many features

Failing that, use an app that serves as a file/media server. The device won't natively show up as an accessible item on your network though, for obvious reasons.

QSecurity.
You wouldn't want other people accessing your phone files when you connect to wifi networks other than your own.

You've got it sorted above, but the fastest and most robust file transfers will be had with an app that runs an smb or ftp server.
