I am very concerned at the moment

a week ago , I had several emails from rainforest shop,

saying

Hello,

We noticed that you recently attempted to register a device or app to your rainforest account.

For security reasons, we require a two-step authentication process when registering certain devices and software applications. In some cases, updating the software on your device or application will remove this requirement.

To complete the registration of your device or app, please enter the following One Time Password within the password field on the sign in screen:

xxxxx

This One Time password is time sensitive, so you need to use it within 10 minutes of receiving our email. If your One Time Password expires, please reattempt to register your device with your Amazon account password to generate another One Time Password.

Your Amazon account password has not been modified.

If the sign-in was not initiated by you, please reset your Amazon account password. Information on changing your account settings is available on our help pages

I had a few of these on one day, then two days later , I had another email saying that my email address has been changed

so when I goto the shop online , the log in screen is showing a different email address

so I phoned them up, and told them about this, and there security team never called me back

then we had Easter and I've just loaded shop online again, and noticed it was saying a different email address to mine.

so I logged into "my" email address and there are no previous orders, no account details nothing!

so I have phoned them up again to find out if its been hacked and why is everything been wiped etc etc

hopefully i'll be getting a phone call tomorrow from there specialist team

anyone else had this before? should I be worried ?

nothing out of the ordinary has come out of my bank yet

Pure interest did any of the emails give you a link?

Would be a good phis attempt to say your emails been changed and give a login URL.

As long as you've changed the password and put your email back to yours you should be fine.

Same thing happened me to. An email popped up that I got refunded for an item I purchased, then another saying that my email has been changed.

I couldn't log in to my account as my login credentials had been changed.

I quickly jumped on the online chat and had my account suspended.

The fraudsters put the refund into a giftcard.

did you get all your money back ?

did you managed to sort out your account again ? ie new password etc

They changed my email back and reset the password. The fraudster didn't get time to use the giftcard they loaded the money on and amazon never cancelled it, so I had some free credit to spend. As the money was from a refunded item I wasn't out of pocket.

Yes
Someone ordered a£700 camera lens but luckily I caught on. They had even managed to ship it to an address in england whereas I live in NI.
Amazon went very quiet when pressed on how this happened. Full refund made so no loss to me. They never told me if lens had been sent.

It could be a inside job.

Very well could be. I know a friend who knows someone working within amazon who is a scumbag. You basically place an ordered and when you get it, this person will report it lost so you get a refund. You then have to pay 50% of the cost of the item for their service.

they never called me back after I contacted them the first time a week ago, I then contacted them again 2 days ago, and again no reply

so I have now gone to resolver and put a complaint in, hopefully now they will listen

I logged into my account and changed my password, there is no credit card details online anymore, and all my orders have disappeared from the past several years!

Are you sure you're not logging into a different account? :p

Amazon offer two-factor authentication and I would always recommend using it where available.
This. I have it on just about everything. The most common threat to your 'details' online is a mass hack/leak of usernames and passwords. 2FA will protect you against that when Dropbox/Amazon/FB/etc get hacked.

now im really annoyed with them

tried to purchase a gift card (£10) they put my account in hold, I finally get through to them, and they sent me an email saying my account needs verification and to send my bank details to this fax number

fax number doesent exist, so I emailed them to check the number, their reply ? asking me the same dam thing so I reply and say the number doesent work

next email I get is "closed your account" !!!!!

I can no longer register on my email address

I give up, what a bad flippin company when things goes wrong !!
