Has anybody here built their own CHP system?

As above really?

I have two Engines,

#1 A Lister 6/1 SOM 2.5KVa (More or less complete but not actually running)

Think this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYZqAzEuPE8

That sound! I could happily go to sleep next to that! :D

#2 A gen set I actually built some years ago based round a Perkins 4108 and a 7.5KVa alternator (I could post a pic if it was considered interesting)

Neither have as yet actually been hooked up.

I am just wondering if any body else has actually gone the final mile and how they actually did it?

The Lister is of interest since I have an abundance of WMO

With the 6/1 i'd say run the cooling jacket into heating a twin coil water tank, can run it all day and have a nice dose of hot water for domestic use and the evening radiator blast too.
Might need to have it pumped though, dunno how the thermosyphon would take to the resistance of a water tank coil.

Going to hang any batteries off the gensets?

I did look at purchasing a large commercial system. 100kwh is a massive baseload and completely out of my reach to use. I would have had to invest in a new business venture just to use that type of heat.
