Has anyone else disconnected their live TV service completely?

The wife and I found ourselves watching less and less live TV and more and more on demand streaming TV (Netflix and Amazon). Also this mean no TV licence to pay.

So I disconnected my Virgin TV service and all I have is fibre broadband (no homephone - we have mobiles for that).

So all in all, no home phone, no line rental, no live TV, no TV licence, just internet and online subscription services and tbh, I'm not even looking back.

I've ended up saving a considerable chunk per month.

I think you'll find quite a few people have done this. Although from next year if you want to use the BBC services you'll have to get a licence.

Subscription based TV, full of advertising is becoming old hat very fast. I think other than sports viewing, and the older generation/some of my generation also will find the change difficult, especially as it makes you realise sometimes the TV is on, just for the sake of being on. :)

It is easier to do that when you have no kids.

Netflix/Amazon content (Especially films) is rather old relatively speaking.

We have Sky movies but never watch it "live", we do however use the "on demand" element a LOT.

If NOW TV drops its premium prices, I would drop the "traditional" Cable/Satellite subscription without doubt.

The "Movies" subscription costs about the same as 2 blu rays discs a month and we get a LOT more than that from the service.

I've just done this, except I can't get virgin so have to keep a land line. Mainly since having a baby I find we watch tv sporadically. Nothing we can't really watch on-demand using Netflix and NowTV.

I've done the same, use iplayer a lot but I don't have a dedicated live TV source anymore. Doesn't bother me, found myself watching less of TV in the conventional way.

Can't do it. I could do without live paid for subscription TV if I got a pirated online sports subscription but that is illegal. So I could do it but my life is watching sports.
