• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Oh-kay, so basically I was disassembling my old rig to sell the parts and it seems my 4930K is suffering an identity crisis, basically the IHS has become blank O.o

I can only assume that the TIM I last used (one that came with an EK block IIRC) has caused the print to degrade due to the heat or something :S but when I wiped it off the IHs had almost a mirror finish. I don't suppose there's some special kind of light I can shine on it to read the details like in the movies? lol, it's just this is probs gonna be a problem with trying to sell it on as even though I still have the retail box and everything checks out in CPUz it looks, well kinda dodgy lol.

Yeah it can disappear after a while.

When selling take a photo of it in BIOS perhaps? I know that not foolproof but worth the 5 seconds. If you sell to someone on here there won't be any issues anyway.

IC Diamond has done this to a few of my CPU's in the past, nothing to worry about.

Just state on the listing the text on the CPU has faded with use. Then buyer won't be surprised and I doubt it will affect resale value much if at all.
