Has anyone gone x99 ?

Yep, just made the jump.

Rampage V Extreme, GSKill 2666mhz 16GB, and a 5820K. Just letting everything settle before putting the chip through it's paces.

Loving the board, more features than I could ever hope to use and the BIOS is a pleasure to use.

I have a planned build with that board/cpu ... going with 2400mhz ram. Will keep an eye out for yo0u to see how you are doing with it ;) Probably be asking you lots of questions lol

i have and just finished building it today actually

5930k
gigabyte x99 gaming 7 wifi
g skill 2400mhz ram

im not happy with my motherboard so far tbh, laggy bios(keeps crashing) and wont boot with a external hdd / xbox controller connected

Yup, 1st Intel chip for nearly 15 years for me. Very happy with it so far. Just wish I had more time to tinker with it.

5820k here

Has anyone upgraded to the x99 platform and DDR4 with the new hex core CPUs ?

I'm currently running a 980 hex on an Asus WS Revo X58 Board with 12gb of 1600Mhz DDR3 ram. Later today should take receipt of a 5820K Asus x-99 E WS and 16gb 3000Mhz DDR4 ram.

I succumbed the upgrade itch mainly because I had no space to go SLI with a 2.5 space g/card, PCI-E SSD, USB3/SATA3 card and PCI-E sound card in the system.

I wanted to go SLI to go with the new ROG swift I ordered as well

So I also bought a second 980GTX Super Jet Stream

Going to run some benchmarks single card x58 vs x99 hex

On paper the 980 and 5820 look very similar with the 5820 only having some minor benefits in cache and whatever IPC improvements the last few years have given.

I'm not expecting much from the transition but have had 5 years service off x-58 with a couple of mid life upgrades 920->980 6gb->12gb added card for USB3 and SATA3 and been through a few graphics cards in the meantime!

Hope to get similar life our of X99 with perhaps a next generation Octo core being dropped in the future.

Will I get value for money out of upgrading? Actually not too bad not losing much on the x58 components that I have had for a few years most of the cost of the upgrade has been the swift and the second GPU for SLI

Ill post a thread over the weekend with the results if your interested

I bought an

I7 5820k
Asus x 99 pro
4 x 4 GB teamgroup 2400mhz

I upgraded from a 4770k with 16gb 2666

worthwhile upgrade for me as need as many threads as physically possible without going nuts over budget , which could easily be done on this platform .
Games really see no benefit apart from bf4 64players , my minimums seem to be far better @ same clocks .

Sad that my Asus board bit the dust and has been sent today for RMA , hope it was dodgy board rather than the platofrm being to blame which is still very young
