We've had a Dyson cordless for a few years now and as good as it is/has been, the battery (including a new replacement from Dyson!) is simply dying too quickly!

On the back of this I'm on the hunt for, if it's not too much to ask, a lightweight, cordless vacuum that sucks up dust & dirt like a corded model - without spending the earth! :D

Yes I know this isn't going to happen so what I was wondering was whether anyone had any experience of the Shark models - specifically the IZ201UK, IZ201UKT (not sure what the "T" signifies") or even the IZ251UKTC models??

The IZ201UK can be had for £250 locally but I'm drawn towards the IZ251UKTC model direct from Shark for £350 - my understanding is that it comes with 2 batteries, a pet tool and some sort of car kit! (as well as the anti-hair thingy and the dual rollers)

We have tiles in the kitchen, bathrooms and utility and I'd say medium pile carpets throughout including the stairs - no pets but the anti-hair tangle would still be useful!

Has anyone used any of these models and can comment?

I have the 251, and very impressed with it. It was my intention to have it as well as my Dyson DC33 (corded) just for quick cleans. But it actually gets more out of the carpets than the DC33 does anyway, so we only use the Shark now.

I reckon having two batteries is worth the extra cost, because you just leave one always in the charger and simply swap them over when the one on the hoover dies.

But it's very regularly reduced in price to £300, so unless you're in a rush I'd keep an eye on it and buy when it's on sale.

I have that model I opted for 1 battery model but I did get the pet tool with it don't know if it was a special promotion at the time.

You can always buy a second battery later on and tbh we don't need a second battery.

As soon as you have used it part of the putting away process should be to stick it on charge for next time.

It's never ran out during use. Paying £100 for a battery seems crazy.

I'm sure you will find them second hand on eBay for less than half that soon enough.

As for the hoover itself it's very good at what it does and it replaced a Miele which was getting too heavy to drag about for a pregnant Mrs. So although it may not suck as hard as the Miele it does a great job and is far more convenient to use.
