Has anyone got the E8400 reporting the right temps?

Using a Abit IP35 Pro motherboard?? If so please tell me how, cos in the bios it says its 127c and with coretemp its 45c idel and 50c stressed

And my E8400 wont overclock much passed 3.4ghz,, why? I just get the BSOD during the loading of windows.

What settings are you using??
I have my E8400/IP35 Pro running 4.2GHZ for 24/7 F@H.

As for temps, I have the same problems, bios reads anything from 3c to 209c :D
I've tried Realtemp & Coretemp as well as HWmonitor. They all give temps between 40-60c @ load.
Either way, it's stable & the motherboard/CPU doesn't feel to hot so I'm ok with it.

That's the first E8400 I've heard of faring that badly...sure it isn't another component? Maybe your mobo or RAM is topping out. Using stock voltages or higher?

Thats what its on at the moment, and it still fails in Orthos, but Im sure its not cos of the temps cos like sometime it fails within the first few mins when my room is quite cool, and other times it will go for a hour+ when my room is hot.

Ive tried increasing the mem and cpu volts a tiny bit, but still no diff, so Im running out of ideas what I could change, do I need to disable or change any of the cpus features in the bios?? The mem timings and speed look ok dont they??

Oh yeh it does 13secs in superpi at 3.4gh. I wouldnt of thought it would do it as quick, I was expecting about 14 - 15secs at 3.4ghz??

I get about 12-13s on 3.6GHz. I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest, sounds like you know what you're doing.

your cpu volts look very low to me
put to 1.3 in the bios
and then try 420 fsb

Increasing the cpu voltage scares me a bit cos the wolfs cant handle high volts, and this cpu has to last me for about 2yrs,, so if I put it to 1.3, will my cpu last 2yrs??

on mine (diff mobo)1.31 in bios puts it to 1.28 with v droop .with temps under 30 at idel
from what i have read the wolfy is fine up to 1.4 to 1.45 volts
also someone posted a screen shot from intel with showed it rated upto 1.36 v
just keep an eye on the temps mate

Ok Ive upped the voltage to 1.3 but in cpu z its reading 1.2v, is this normal, and what one is right? Ive banged it up to 3.6 and its working, The temps are 53c, (idel is 45c), so I will run orthos for a hour, at a time, and keep droping the votage down untill it fails, then put it up 1, good idea??

sounds fine mate ,there both correct its called v droop
with that voltage you should turn your fsb up a bit more it should run @ 3.8 stable .

Im soooo glad Youve helped me figger out the prob guys, the super pi has only gone down 1sec,, I would have thought a extra 200mhz would have lost at least another 2secs or more?

no problem mate , when i ran mine@ 4 it only put it to 11.6 in pi
ive backed of to 3.8 (well 3.790) as this seems to give the best volts/temps/speed combo

thanks a lot niko. I think I will keep it at 3.6, cos its stupidly fast anyway, but thats the reason I got this cpu cos I knew it would go to 3,6 and 3.6 was my goal. Plus I have the memory running at its proper speed too 400mhz.

Ok found the voltage where the cpu fails in orthos so Ive put it up 1 notch. I cant remrmber what it was in the bios, but in cpu z It says its at 1.19v Is that ok?? I shouldnt kill my cpu should I??

Well its impossible for me to know what " Real Temps" are for this CPU but the Striker II Formula I had read the temps a lot lower and more consistant than my Striker Extreme.
