Has anyone here used Stena Line

We are visiting the UK in October and in order to put together the cheapest possible package with as little driving with a 3 year old in the car as possible we are doing the following:

outbound: Stena Line day ferry Hoek van Holland to Harwich

return: P&O Ferries Hull to Rotterdam

Now we have used P&O plenty in the past so we know about their cabins and such but Stena Line we have never used before.

But by their descriptions they are miles better than P&O in all respects.

Now my question is that in their Comfort class cabins the description says "Complimentary Minibar"

Are these really free of do you have to pay for the contents. and if they are free what's to stop people just emptying them into their bags as they disembark or are they expecting that to happen?

I've never used them but in my eyes, complimentary means free and fill ya bag

Complimentary Mini Bar including mineral water, soft drinks, white and red wine and beer and in addition a bag of nuts and a bag of crisps.

That'll be free as in free beer, but it's not exactly going to be the haul of the year. You won't get full bottles of wine/champagne, etc.

Yes I realize that but I have seen companies use the term Complimentary minibar before and it only means they supply the minibar without charging extra but you still have to pay for what is inside it.

Usually at some stupid rate of 5 dollars for a bag of peanuts.

I'm guessing it means you'll have a couple bottles of water, soft drinks and a couple of beers and nothing else.

You won't get a full selection like you would in a paid mini bar

2 reasons really

If I call the Netherlands premium rate number at some stupid rate I would not be able to understand a word they said or get through the menu system since I do not speak Dutch.

If I phone the UK so I can get someone who speaks English and a menu system I can navigate through then I am paying long distance charges.

It's much easier to ask on here as I am sure someone here has used Stena line and can tell me if I am going to get charged through the teeth for eating a bag of crisps.

I would imagine the exact same as a hotel, probably two mini bottles of wine and two bottles of water.
