I've been looking for a while, to see how the EN blocks turn out, however I can't find anything saying how they are, bother performance wise, and if the nickel plating is any better than the normal versions.

Does anyone know if the EN plating actually prevents the flaking issue that EK have had, or if it's just a marketing gimick to get people to still buy their stuff?

I don't know but i just bought one of those blocks (6970) a day or so ago, won't be be able to test it for a good few weeks though

the EN nickel is an improved, much more expensive and technically advanced method of production than was previously employed.

the new blocks look a lot more striking than the older ones, they are a lot shinier.

we are not tolerating any manufacturer bashing, EK has been around for a long time and deserves a bit more respect.

the new process is far from a marketing gimmick.

performance will be the same as any other EK block

if you have any more questions then please let me know and I will do what I can.

Hey guys the new EN models also sport a + at the end and have a revised core cooling section as well as new screw in standoffs rather than the horrible black plastic ones you had to stick on with tim.

I got mine yesterday and have pictures in my build log.

The new core section looks a lot more like the new EK Supreme core design.

Here is a picture for reference.

Cheers all for the info, might be buying my blocks soon then :)

@rjk: Sorry, I wasn't intending to have a go at EK, but I've had experience with different manufacturers that wouldn't hesitate to do something similar, but I've never had any experience with EK personally, so I just wanted another opinion :)

Time to start specing out my cooling now I think :D

Looking at that comparison above, would'nt the thinner plates/more channels mean better performance? Would be interesting to see a review between the old and the new.

I am going to get my replacement cpu block soon. Have been in two minds about putting it back in the loop or using the koolance cpu 370 block.

That new block looks nice, I prefer the new look of the core cooling channels and I think the screw in standoffs are a good step in the right direction, although why they can't just pre attach them I don't know!

Yes exactly :)

The one on the left is the newer GTX580+ which is the newer EN blocks.

The GPU core cooling bit with the thin channels looks exactly like the newer EK Supreme CPU waterbocks.

Yeah i would aslo like to see what the temps would be like on them both.

How noticeable is the extra shine?

Thank god! I hated those plastic ones!

I've recently got an EN Acetal+Nickel 6970 block, which I am aiming to have added to my loop this weekend. Not sure if I'll have finished by the weekend though. I can confirm that this has the new standoffs.
