I'm speccing my first home server and I'm trying to keep the power consumption down. I will be using ECC RAM but I'd like a CPU with a bit more oomph than the lower end, low TDP Intel's (such as the i3's) but if I can avoid having an 80w TDP Xeon, that would be preferable. There is a single i5 that supports both ECC and VT-d and that's the 4570TE but I can't find any info on it beside those naff CPU comparison sites.
If the 4570TE isn't an option and I end up going with a Xeon-
- Has anyone used a 4570TE?
- Am I right that it being an "embedded" chip simply means that it's aimed at use in AIO systems, car audio systems, gambling machines etc? [NOTE] I've found a picture of the chip and it's not soldered onto the mobo.

- Does anyone know where I can find power consumption benchmarks for the E3 1220-V3?
- Could anyone tell me what the running costs are like for the 1220-V3?
