Made a payment to a UK bank that has only a 6 digit account number?

I tried google but can't find anything!

Can't say I have but Sort Codes are 6 digits.

I thought all UK bank acount numbers were 8 digits with sort codes being 6 digits :confused:

Could it have two zeroes preceding it? We have an account that is 00 then 6 digits.

There are a few banks and building societies that still have non standard account numbers - Is it Yorkshire Bank? Normally you would just put 00 in front to get the 8 digit account number (this is the case with yb)

To clarify - I have been given a 6 digit account number and a seperate 6 digit sort code.

It's for RBS apparently!

Cheers that's probably the answer. However I think I will wait for the person to email me back, don't want to transfer £400 to the wrong account!

Just to support that, mine with HBOS is 00 followed by 6 digits. I've been asked on some sort of form before for my 6 digit account number.

I can give you the rest of it if you want to transfer me the £400 to check that it works?
