has "EA link" hosed 2142 for anyone else?

Been noting that ther seem to be a ton of threads on the ea forum about this new version of their downloader hosing 2142, to get the game to actually work people have to set compatability mode to win 2000, only then to be told they have an invalid cd key when they try to play multiplayer. Seems to only affect downloaded copies of the game. Anyone else geting this?
 
Took me ages to dl it because link stopped working all the time which naturally made an 8 hr download very problematic. No other probs though.
