Well in my stop gap for waiting for FF12 to come to the UK I have decided to pick up what looks to be a mint copy of FF7 for a tenner and was wondering has it aged well or am I going to wish I left it as great memories.

I recently completed FF10 and throughly loved it, I know im gonna touch on some nerves here but im thinking its actually just slighty better than 7, but whats happened in the past is I have picked up a completed classic from years ago and its not gave the same effect as I remembered.

So the question is "Has Final Fantasy 7 aged well???" and am I still going to love nailing Sephiroth (sp?) as much as I did many christmas's ago.

If you think 10 is better than 7 then you'll think 7 is awful. 8 is where it's at. The fact is 10 is pants.

Agree tenfold!

8>7>*

FF8 pwns my soul, story is sick, characters are exceptional and the amount ot   moments, for me beat ff7. Also love the gf/junctioning in 8.

Personally I thought they got gradually worse since VII, VIII was my least favourite with all the card games and junctioning rubbish.

I'll have to pick up 8 and 9 then, never got round to playing those 2, I dont know why, what I liked most about 10 was the characters and the story really gripped you to the end.

I wouldn't bother with 9, it's just a cartoon. Save yourself some money and just go get an old Tom & Jerry VHS.

Thanks for the advice, the main reason I think I missed 8+9 was because the majority of reviews said they were going downhill after 7, can FF9 be worse than FFX-2, that game was truly awful and got sold after about an hour of play.

Get 7, it's timeless. Story > graphics, anyday. The level of immersion is unreal. Nine years later, it's still the daddy.

God knows if it's worse than 9. There's nothing really wrong with 9, but it just feels like you're playing a cartoon >_< I can't explain it very well. I played 8 first and the fact that the characters are more realistic (With properly proportioned limbs etc) and the depth of the storyline + personalities and the musical score is top notch.

Don't go about saying your opinion is fact. ;)

I liked FF10 just as you did and I found FF9 to be very good, definitely not better than 10 or 7.

The less said about FF X-2 the better imo, I thought it was tripe. :/

Loved 7 to pecies gonna try and score it again me thinks
Liked 8 but my hdd died on my pc so I lost all my saved game was up to the bit where you fight that witch with the girl sticking out of her (cant remember the excatct thing)
I could never get back into it after that I dont know why I mean ive played and completed 7 at least 5 times but cant get back into 8 I get board after the first hour.
I liked number 9 think I got onto the 3rd disk then I had to give it back to my mate I didnt really care that it was less realistic to me it was an RPG (a final fantesy RPG at that) and thats all that mattered.
I wasnt a big fan of 10 dont get me wrong the graphics are amazing and so is the story but I didnt like the fact that you have to keep switching your party members to level them up (ok you had to do that in the others but this seemed different to me) I also thought it was too short compared to the others anyway. Also didnt like the fact it didnt have a world map which was like the others.
X-2 played for 6 hours and got completly lost then sold it because I didnt have time to play it.

I just hope 12 is gonna be a good one havent read anything about it because I dont wanna get caught up in all the hype and then be let down as was the case with 10.

One thing I will tell you is you will notice the drop in graphics with 7 from 10 but if your not too intrested in graphics then you gonna have fun for the next 35 - 40 hours maybe more if you decide to get all the ultimate weapons the matiria ect

I thought FFVIII was the best, but FFVII is amazing too. I was playing it last summer and it hasn't lost it's charm at all.

Thanks for the comments guys, I have FF7 coming on tuesday, I only completed it once last time I had it so am looking forward to it again, graphics dont bother me at all, its the story and music that I remember most,

I've played all the PSone FF's over the past few months and to be honest, I have enjoyed FFIX the most.

FFVII brung back memories but has its problems

FFVIII is a great game but also has a few problems

FFIX was the most polished of the 3. While not as memorable as the other 2, it was enjoyable thorughout and provided the most consistancy in my opinion.

Edit: BTW FF7 is still actually my fav. It's the only one I wouldnt sell

FFVIII is my fav by far, followed by FFVII :)

Curiously it looks awful on every single one of my screens - but amazing on my projector. Quite crazy that. Not that I'm complaining, 80" of FFVIII you can't go wrong :D

Wow. I thought i was the only one who prefered FF8 to 7. I haven't had chance to play 10, as my PS2 blew up in a thunder storm last year before i had chance to play it. As soon as they're cheap enough, i'm so there.

prefer 8 to 7? are you people mad?

8 is good yeah.. but in no way had the story line of 7 and 9 is excellent also.

Only ff i havent liked is 10-2

If you are after the best ff game number 7 is where it is at.. even square think so ;)

And ive played all of these games to death clocking up hundreds of hours on each.

Best for me was seven the way you get attached to the characters is amazing, its my best game of all time! Eight was good but it just lacked somthing? and to top it off the end boss was nearly immortal!! I loved ten also a good twist at the end and Auron just rocks. :)
