Has General Discussion become less busy over the last month or so?

there was a time when i would be clicking 3 or 4 pages back to catch up on new threads, but now its rarely gets past 2 pages of new threads.

a portion of the time new threads don't even fill up the first page.

anyone notice this? is it just g.d or the whole forum?

Can't say I've noticed myself, really. Surely it depends on what sort of threads you want to catch up on, though - I'm not sure I've gone onto page 2 of GD in about a year

I usually find myself clicking on one or two threads when I visit GD. Its not that there's a lack of them, just seems to be a lack of interesting ones

im looking at the overall total threads created in any given day over a period of time.

i do seem to find a reduction in topics interesting or not, there does seem to be less of them

Have you considered that possibly you are checking GD more often than you used to i.e. you aren't allowing the same length of time for 2+ pages of threads to build up?

I don't know if there are more or less topics than there used to be but it does seem to be somewhat cyclical, in another few months it will be the school holidays again and you'll probably find a sharp rise in the number of threads.

The two types of poster on this forum have been exaggerated.

Some newer posters are just baffling in their behaviour or opinions. The previous generation (El_Razur etc) at least had some character, or dare I say, something likable about them.

The 'heavyweight' posters (semi-Pro waster, Dolph, Acid_Hell 2 etc) are less noticeable because their obvious 'adversaries' (clear blue sky springs to mind) post less often and the disagreement between all of them is less vocal, or at least less apparent.

I don’t think the posting rate is necessarily less, just that there isn’t as many intense or as memorable moments any more.

Of course, all is said in full knowledge that I am wearing my rose tinted glasses. This forum is still great and has many interesting characters.

i mainly browse here from work, if i lost my job i'd barely be on ocuk at all, maybe in the recession as people lose their jobs, they browse ocuk less?
