The Z390 and the rest of 300-series chipsets will support Coffee Lake (CFL) and Cannon Lake (CNL) CPUs, according to Intel document.

The document also revealed Cannon Lake and Coffee Lake series (HEDT) designed for X399 chipset. Intel was expected to skip this codename as it was already taken by AMD for the first-generation Threadripper.

The file would, therefore, suggest that both Z390 and X399 are coming soon, likely around Computex, as we previously speculated.

The source of this info comes from page 2 of the Intel pdf linked in article.

Isn't X399 already taken by the chipset for Threadripper...? Wierd!
It definitely isn't an ideal naming scheme, will inevitably lead to some people buying Intel processors and AMD boards. Intel X399i would be a simple change.

I wonder if Intel will push forward release, now that AMD has closed the gap even more with Ryzen+

Intel need to get an 8c16t coffeelake out the door ASAP as far as I'm concerned! So wouldn't be surprised to see release pushed forward a bit
