Hi gang

Woke up to a bit of a problem this morning. Was presented with big green vertical lines and also pink ones on the screen. Thought I would try reseating the graphics card and this fixed it for a bit but then it started again.

Really went bad when I tryed running 3D Mark. Does this look like a card issue. Is it on its way out? Screen is below:

Thanks

another 9800 card that bites the dust. this deffo is the most unreliable card ever made. its up there with crucials ballistix 1gig sticks.

Just a thought, but i had something similar happen to my 9600XT. I took it out and the heatsink was thick with dust so i cleaned it out and it ran fine for a while and then started happening again. I decided to invest in one of those ATI Silencer thingys for it and haven't had any problems since. Could overheating be your problem?

Weren't the 9700 less reliable ? I'm sure they suffered from a driver update and half of them overheated/artifacted.

Did you get replacements each time? Any info appreciated, as i'm currently stuck with a very poor gfx card, and a broken one :)

Yes I RMAd the faulty card on each occassion and got replacements.

Story goes like this;

Bought a Leadtek 6800GT from another store; faulty within 1 hour. While waiting for refund I bought a Leadtek 6800GT from OCUK. Went faulty within 7 days; RMA'd it and they replaced it with a another Leadtek 6800GT which developed the exact same fault after 4 weeks. RMA'd that one and got a refund after about 4 weeks. Decided to cut my losses and bought an Inno3d 6800 GT from another store (by this time AGP prices had rocketed!). The Inno3d was good for 4-5 weeks and then caught fire (faulty component). Returned to store and got a full refund. Because the cost of the Inno3d was so high (relatively speaking) and in the 4-5 weeks since I had bought it the 7800GT PCIe cards had come down in price considerably and were then on offer at OCUK I decided to splash out on a BFG 7800GT OC and a PCIe motherboard. Been happy ever after! (hope I don't regret that last statement - touch wood and all that).
