My MSI Z87-G45 has been acting odd for a while, initially I thought that my SSD's we're just on the way out as my RAID0 array would fail every so often but a couple of power cycles would get it up and running - although eventually it looked like one of the four drive died.
So that got removed and for a while all was well, then I started to get random BSOD which slowly got worse and worse to the point where I could get them 10+ times at seemingly random times.
I bought a new SSD to make sure it wasn't my old OCZ's and always fine for 24hrs and the same BSOD started again, so I went on a limb and thought it was gfx as that had been damaged (Liquid from protein shake got into fans and ended up dripping onto card, I know dumb as hell but it happened) and I was a little unsure how bad - so I replaced it for a new 1080 and still the same BSOD occurred.
Until eventually the mobo stopped detecting any SATA drives altogether, none of the 6 ports work and neither does the mSata port, so my assumption is that the the controller was on its way out and finally done one (board is nearly 4yrs old).
Just never had a controller go like this before, I do wonder if some of the protein shake could have got on to the board maybe... It go sucked in the front air intake and worked it's way around CPU cooler - it was gross as hell.
Got a PCIe Sata card on way for now, but looks like a new mobo is gonna be need and LGA1150 aint that easy to find now :/
