Has my Sony Bravia died?

I have a 42" Sony Bravia KEL 42W706. I'd just finished playing some rocket league when I switched back to TV and now we have black lines all across the screen.

The lines appear even when pressing HOME and bringing up a menu, so it's not signal.

I have removed the power, waited, turned back on.

I have done a full factory reset.

Neither of the above helped rectify the fault.

Does anybody have any advice, is it knackered?

Edit: there is a really high pitched whining noise coming from the tv. It's that irritating I've had to turn the t.v. off.

If it's out of warranty, you could remove the back panel and insure all the connections are good and pushed in. My first thought when looking at that was, it may be the cable. However, you obviously don't have a cable here that you can change. In this instance, it may be the connectors into the board. See if you can find an internal break down of the TV, what you're looking for is the connection between the screen and the main board inside.

It died big time yesterday, absolutely no picture whatsoever.

Ended up going above my budget and got a Sony 49XE9005!

Haven't you popped the back off and just checked that nothing is broken that could be fixed? Like other said it could just be a dodgy connector that needs pushing in or resoldering. Might be worth having a look at least just if you keep it as a spare TV somewhere.

Yah I've had a mess around with it but seems completely dead now. It's a shame as it was a great tv that I would have been happy to keep for another year or so!

Saying that....this new Sony looks great.

the Sony's a good tv, especially with recent deals.

... maybe he bought one for every room in the house for the same price as a 77"oled ?
