... or is it just a blip?

For the first time in what seems like months, my speed has been pretty good tonight. This was after I lost connection totally for 15mins or so earlier this evening.

From this:

To this tonight:

And this, may I add, is someone who is on O2 Access.

Long may this continue.

Seems to be widespread, well according to the O2 newsgroups.

It has been rearly bad even at this time of the day, so fingers crossed they do seem to have done something, lol.

Now wether it lasts, well only time will tell.

Its now 7.30pm, and it seems it has slowed somewhat, but still better than it was only a couple of days ago.

Albeit the ping has gone south somewhat.

I'm getting brilliant speeds tonight for the first time in months, pings are still at 100ms but its looking promising!

Same old story for me! Im currently on their '20mb' tariff, would I lose anything by going on their 8mb one?

Apparantly not :p

More seriously, that info is usually on the main router status page. Might also be under WAN, Modem, Broadband or Internet. Depends on the brand really. It is usually listed as Sync Rate.

To access your router you need to put something like 192.168.0.1 into a browser address bar. I don't know the default address for the O2 routers but it may be listed on the sticker on the bottom of the router. It will almost certainly be in one of the letters you got with your equipment.

Ok, time for some more figures.

Router.

And more speedtest figures, used just for comparison rearly, lol.

What does all of this tell me, well its certainly not as fast as last night, as the figures show. But at least something seems to be happening, well as far as being on O2 Access is concerned. I know using Speedtest is'nt that good, but at least its showing it in a graphical sense.

So at the mo, the report is, its getting better, but could do better.

How strange...

Your router is reporting 8mb but you're only pulling down 0.31 on Speedtest

Your upstream seems quite low given your downstream. Even with my god awful connection I get about 0.8 upstream.

Is this more like it?

The numbers havn't changed much.

So the daytime figures seem about right, its just the evening times that are still not so good. But O2 did say it would take a few days for it to settle down (changes made). I'll have another look later on around 7pm.
