Has the recent post count started to kill MM?

I actually sold a Corsair HX 620W still sealed to Cyber-Mav last year, it took out 3 motherboards, he ended up going to OcUK to replace it at the counter

Iv never been to ocuk store in my life it's too far from me, and I'm sure I didn't get the PSU from members market this hx620 I got has only been used with 2 motherboard, the gigabyte p55m-ud4 with a Xeon x3470 (I think thats the CPU) and then with current am4 setup I'm still running.
Was surprised by that post

I am grateful to this thread for reminding me of the rules. I had a vague recollection its invisibility to me was post-related, but I reckon my on-the-cheap, semi-planned 2500k upgrade can probably wait a while longer. :D

This is my 3341st post in 21 years, so I may have to up my typing game a little.

I've never been a prolific poster but the 2FA kinda screwed me over. No phones in the office. Although I have now realised (today) I can get from my phone locker back to my desk quick enough to log in :)
shouldn't you be working

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, but . . . nearest date I can see on here is https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/blown-corsair-psu.17735531/page-3#post-9462000
I can only search back in Members Market to April 2011 for some reason, even though other sections go back to at least 2004

Well, I'm not sure about killing it, but I do disagree with the way it was handled. I think what annoyed people the most was that it didn't account for people's past contribution, which in some cases was very significant - that's when it was felt more abruptly than could have been intended, by those who perhaps should have been exempt from it in the first place.

Ultimately, if so many people had something bad to say about it, then it probably wasn't as considered as it should have been.

But it happened a while ago and it's no big deal, it's just a thing you need to consider now - I don't think it's killing anything.

Where can i find the updated rules/terms for qualification?

In the thread pinned to the top of this forum section

But it has been mentioned that it's just an automated way of applying a rule that was always there, that access was based on the person continuing to contribute to the forum/community. I.e. people's past contributions were never the criteria to maintain access anyway.

Past contribution was irrelevant - all that was changed was that instead of waiting for someone otherwise inactive to pop up in MM to either make a purchase or sale, be spotted, and then be called in and asked to explain why they were "freeloading" (and given the opportunity to contribute), is that this process automates that and removes the manual need for us to spot them.

If that were true (and felt by the community at the point of access) then nobody would have been annoyed by the updated rule.

I tend to have access from general use anyway, it really doesn't bother me now. But there have been times that I haven't due to an insane work-load or similar. Peoples circumstances vary wildly, and thus you were rightfully met with some hostility during the transition, when previously "hardcore supporters" were blocked from what they felt they had earned the right to.

Whether they were entitled to it before the change or not is somewhat irrelevant if it wasn't felt by the user.

This thread would not exist if everyone thought that everything was "fine". There are enough folks showing concern to, in turn, cause some level of consternation at the mod level, if not the commercial level. I'm a realist - I certainly don't expect the rules to change, nor the vitriol directed at those of us who are not worthy to be reduced, much less eliminated. Still, perhaps some period of reflection would be healthy for all concerned.

A reflection on the rules and what the actual 'change' was would be healthy for all concerned, forums user nightwish (862 participation posts over 20 years).

There certainly was a lot of low post count MM users who gained access in the early years before the change so I would have to say "yes" (a bit)
