Has windows app updating changed in 8.1

Hey all I recently upgraded from 8 to 8.1 and since
then I have not had any app updates to install in
the windows store.
Has this process changed in 8.1 compared to 8?
does it happen in the background without me knowing?
is there a way to check if apps have been updated?

I appreciate any advice.

not got a clue but its been the same for me, it might just be that there hasn't been any updates

Not had to put any updates on since 8.1 also but I only have the default apps installed.

Going into the store not prompt you?

Basically its this. I think you can see the updates in the event log somehow but I have not tried to look.

Yes, the apps update by default in 8.1. I'm not sure I like the behaviour personally but for most people it will be appropriate.

Yep, auto app updating in the background. If for some bizzare reason yu dont want it, just turn it off.

App store > charms bar > settings > app updates > turn auto app updating off.
