mine did in 2001. shame, he was a great bloke and had 4 kids. strung himself up from a beam in his surgery for reasons we may never know. apparently though, the suicide rate among dentists is one of if not the highest in any profession. i wonder why this is?
anyone elses dentist topped themselves?

I know a few who did.
It is high yes.
Vets are worse afaik.
Young professional, intelligent people, generally with a drive and desire to learn and then work, and end up in what is basically a repetitive work environment, with tasks that repeat, and have to deal with the public.
Its a perfect combination for depression and all the fun and games which goes with it.

interesting. he was a top bloke, far better than the 2 dentists that they've had over the years to replace him and he had 4 kids! a part of my local surgery died along with him but he genuinely hanged himself in the surgery and it just seemed so out of character but i remember hearing that the suicide rate in dentists was remarkably high. the repetitive task of dentistry coupled with the obvious intellect they must have is a bit of an alarm for depression.

No but my dentist is a very hot woman.

But 3 of my teachers at school did, one was unjustly accused of being a peado, one had terminal cancer and checked out on his own terms, the third one I never head any details on.

Id guess teachers would be a suicide risk
