Hi all,
There are a lot of threads on here asking "should I upgrade my <xxx>", instead of asking for advice (too many different opinions online
) I'd love to know if anyone has any thoughts on merely the actual performance difference between - for example - my current Haswell 4670K running at 4.2GHz vs the cream-of-the-crop 7700K. The caveat being that the Kaby Lake part is an OcUK binned chip running at 5GHz.
Use case is predominantly gaming, with titles such as Overwatch being front of mind. At the moment thanks to a 1080Ti I am CPU-limited on this and some other games, so my current thinking is what sort of improvement % would be expected with the shift to a much newer architecture AND a +20% frequency gain?
(obviously this is influencing a buying decision, feel free to weigh in if you do have an opinion there
)
Dave
