OK I'm almost certain to be buying the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H, but just a little unsure what CPU to go for.
I'd like to get a chip that matches my current GPU (AMD Radeon HD 6450), i'm not a gamer as if you hadn't worked that one out but i'm unsure how to work out what CPU will match my current 6450.

In a nutshell does that mean that no current CPU with built in graphics can match my current video card or if there is something that can beat it shed some light on this issue for me please.

What are the main uses of the pc?
Video encoding is done mostly, i know this is a CPU intensive task, but just worried about going down video wise, I do play a few stupid little games but nothing modern, i'm looking at getting the i5-4670K as the i7-4770K might be a wee bit out of my price range.

The 4670k will be fine for small browser games and your uses :)

Worse case you can add a better GPU at a later date

I'd think twice tbh.
4770k is also an investment for the future as it will last long time and you can overclock it, if you need more 'oomph'. Its 70£ more, but will pay back imo.

That mobo is way overkill, get a cheaper one and put the funds saved towards the 4770k. The gfx in the i7 is very capable, better than your current gpu.

Would be my choice if i wasn't too fussed about the latest games.

AMD is out of the question from my POV, from my understanding as far as video encoding Intel is still king.

The reason for going for the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H is a number of reasons, I'm a data hog and having 10 SATA ports in very handy plus i have 4 port raid card as well, also it has more USB3 port and it's only £20 more expensive so board is fine for my needs i think, I'm looking at the K version again as it's not that much more money and it gives me the option to play in the future, the last thing i want to do is spend money now and then have to spend more at a later date, i can't ever see myself needed a video card which is why the onboard video is importnat to me, so long as it matches or beats my current video card i'm happy with that.

Video wise is there any difference between the i5 or i7?

Yeah better gaming performance and lower power use as well.

No reason to go AMD for a desktop chip tbh, APU's for a small build make sense but AMD is seriously lacking in the desktop CPU space right now..

Well, I used to game with my 4770k's iGPU (HD 4600) without any problems in some less demanding games like WoW, Neverwinter online etc on lower settings.
I don't plan on buying a new CPU for another 3 to 5 years, depending how well I can overclock this one.

OK thanks for all your advice guys, I need to take one final look at Asus boards but i still think the GA-Z87X-UD5H will win and i'll go for the i7, i know it's more money but at least this way i won't have to upgrade for a while at least.
