***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

Probably a pointless question as i feel i already know there answer but i'll ask anyway.

Is there a way i upgrade my system tomorrow and not have to reinstall Windows?

I have a terrible internet connection and i fear it'll take forever to download everything again.

But if you guys advise it, it will be done.

Cheers

What are you upgrading?

I will try and do one, but as you can imagine Ive been playing around, owning noobs in BF4 and at the moment I am downloading some films.

I asked 8 Pack about my board as it have options to oc using bclk 100/125/167mhz and he said 125 should be best for stability. Try changing yours from 100 to 125 if your motherboard gives you the option.
I hope it helps.

Hi clov!s,

Upgrading cpu,mobo and ram bud.

No problem, just dont forget it will deactivate windows as the license is tied to the board, its not a problem though as you will just have to phone them with your key and you will get a code to enter.

Thanks nick,

I'll see how it goes and report back, can't bloody wait to get this system going.:D

I bet you can't, looking forward to seeing some results/tests, there all still pretty thin on the ground. Enjoy your day and i hope it all goes to plan ;)

I've never touched bclk on previous systems, not totally sure what it does in truth.

If you OC the bclk it basically overclocks the bus so anything attached gets a little speed increase, so that's sata, pcie, memory etc. you may find your max gpu clock is a little lower due to the faster bus speed but doing this more than compensates. Or if you increase too much say on 125 strap with a 133bclk your SSD may not function correctly, ie, windows won't load!!
Best bclk in x79 is on 125 strap at bclk range 128-131, just experiment no harm can be done and every system can achieve different results, just use it as a way to fine tune your system.

I think you'll run into problems trying to run windows from the same HDD on a new board, chip and memory.

I'm the same, I'll be installing my new x99 stuff Saturday morning, but because of the issues that might come up, I'm going to do a clean install.

I was experiencing some 3D instability with as little as 127.6 BCLK, albeit with three cards! For daily use I always try and stick with a stock PCIE frequency personally

Win7 was pretty good at handling mobo changes so hopefully win8.1 is even better. For win7 there was a windows utility called sysprep which would prepare the OS, dont know if 8.1 carries the same, might be worth a check. Had no problems just changing the board without it a few times however.

Guys I need help, got a new block for cpu (ek supreme ltx csq) but not sure how to install it.

The instructions are really vague in regards to installing on a socket 2011 board.

There should be 4 posts that screw into the mobo, then put block on followed by washers then springs then nuts, give half a turn in opposite corners until tight
