Haswell or Ivybridge-E?

+1 for Haswell. Absolutely no point in getting X79 for a gaming system unless you ever plan on running more than two gpus or you want to bench seriously.
No... Ivy-E with 3 or 4 Gpus.

The way I see it is while Haswell has better IPC, the temp issue would mean for everyday use, people won't overclocked it beyond 4.50GHz (unless people would delidded it and get rid of the sealent, which can drop load temp up to 20C!). For IvyBridge-E the heatspreader is solder on, so the temp shouldn't be an issue and can be overclocked higher.
